the thing about kids;
aye,
looking through the Flickr collection has made me miss the kids back at camp!
even to a certain extent, the antics of my
veryveryvery mischevious Awesome boys.

And since im in this mood of repine,
figured i should do a post on the stuff i learnt from camp!
Besides, this post comes cause
1. i have zilch inspiration to do Joseph's card
2. i have zilch inspiration to plan for the Xmas Party
3. i cannot sleep cause Mission Meeting is happening soon.
Lesson 1:
Young-ish girls, (6-7 years old) have a notion of what is childish.

Which is really amusing! the girls from Amazing (above) flat-down refused to do the very cute-
ish Saturday Night Fever movements cause they thought that it was childish.
HAHAHA.
i know, i am so amused.
and plus, they were all so serious when they told Aunty Weiling that "it is very childish."
which brings me on to Lesson 2:
When teaching boys cheers, never ever over your dead body teach them the Shabooya cheer.
the boys were actually screaming and shouting and jumping up and down cause they
didnt want to do the
Shabooya cheer! (
hahaha,
im super amused too.)
So much so that our Awesome cheer became a super predictable one,
Go Awesome Go! x4
Goooo... Awesome!
then again, v. great Isaac Lim came up with, and led in this cheer, and so, im awesomely proud of him!
another thing i learnt,
when it comes to food, we're all Barbarians.

gosh, the snakey queues testify to the insatiable hunger of the kids.
they gallop to their queues, and even try to cut them.
mostly mine though, hmmm.

and you know what can bring a man down?
FACE PAINT.
the story behind it,
Awesome didnt want me to call them boys.
nope, they wanted me to call them men! or guys!
how they adamantly refused against the title of boys was hilarious,
so yeah, the only way to get those macho-wannabes down? FACE PAINT.

like how Macho-Wannabe Nathan Lau got soooo conscious cause Kayson (HAHA.) painted his EYEBROWS green.
and my other dear boy, painted his CHEEK green.
(i know, what's up with the lack of aesthetic vision in boys eh?)
oh yeah, another thing.
to be a great camp leader, one must be equipped not only with the ability to click with children,
but he/she must also know how to MAKE KITES.
ohmygosh, kite making day was craaazzzzzy.
cause yeahwell, it's not like the children have nimble fingers to
- tie two bamboo sticks with string together
- glue of very fragile crepe paper together
-attach string here, attach tape there
and so, i had to do it for them.
and i commented to Sam Zhang that i feel like a Vietnamnese Kite Maker!
and the best part of it all?
the boys broke their kites ten minutes later.
ever felt like a cow before?
no?
then sign up for Kids Camp! (:
(on a sidenote, something tells me that my career in advertising is over.)
Anyway,
after playing the Mat Game, Uncle John gave us $$ to buy a bottle of Slurpee,
and ohmygosh,
8 boys around a Slurpee cup is like Vampires around blood.
The boys huddled and squished outside 7-11 vying to suck some sugared ice out of the poor Slurpee cup, and indirectly, my hand.
till, i had to carry out Operation-i-feel-like-a-cow.
Stop drinking.
All of you, line up.
Now drink.
What a sight i tell you, bet the old men at Potong Pasir were very much amused by that,
and i soooo felt like a cow that afternoon.

another thing that amazes me,
girls these days are so... kempt.for want of a better word,
but hey.
each night, you see the 6-8 year olds,
- putting hair serum
- looking for their L'oreal Hair Conditioner
- applying Night Cream.
like OHMYGOSH, they even better care of themselves than how the leaders do!
HAHAHA.
and yes, my bunk is the bimbotic bunk, witnessed first hand,
i'm actually very much in awe of these girls.
amusing.

another thing,
Chemistry is megaloads important!

being impromptu emcees that got sabo-ed by Ally, who happened to leave for home on that night,
yeahhman, Chemistry is indeed important!
i think we did a decent job,
what with all the LAMMEEE JOKES.
and did you know?
Dotty is incredibly lame! (:
Fab Soap? Fab Soap..?
Fab..ulous Soap?
Fabulous!

and the boys actually got stage fright!
which,
im not amazed,
but amused.
see their
im-so-macho swagger go whoosh! outta the window!
heh, so Fun Night went past pretty decently,
camp turned out well,
and
ladeedaaa.
the must-have, Camp Leaders Photo!

and guess what?
My team actually came in THIRD!
whooopeeee.
The youngest team came in THIRD!
hahaha,
and yeah, as Becca will love to gloat, she came in SECOND!
(and i wonder why, why, why does Becca always happen to win my group?)
HMM.
***
on another note, my desktop wallpaper has been changed from,
to,
this!
an amazing bunch of cute-ness! (:
and guess what,
Charmainey/ Becca/ Dot,
i wouldnt be taking the Primary Ones next year! :(
instead, i got a super promotion to take the Pri Six kids.
woah.
big leap in IQ.
how.
